Match 6 – Blundells – East and West – 23rd July 2023 – 14 fished
Midport anglers returned to Blundells Fishery for the first time since the inaugural 2018 season.
On arrival it was clear we were going to get a good soaking for the third consecutive match.
Dodging goose shit was near-on impossible for some anglers on pegs 1 – 19 but everyone was affected by the untrustworthy twang of loud-mouth Scouser’s on neighbouring pools.
Not much was known about East or West pre-visit but what information had been acquired from the Internet was quickly contradicted by the locals bankside. For future reference it turned out the F1’s were in East and the big boys were in West. Tim Morton can attest to this getting snapped up himself numerous times by creatures in West.
Winning tactics on the day were casters shallow (Scott), meat short (Remi) and the jigger (Dave).
#cockofthematch was Scott Harding who questioned Steve O’Reilly from the warmth of his car, for at least a minute, before realising he was struggling in the rain with all his might to keep his trolley upright on a grass verge…
(Overall winner) – Scott Harding (82lb 15oz)
(Section winner) – Andrew Reynolds (61lb 6oz)
(Section winner) – Dave Tulloch (54lb 11oz)
