Match 1 – Fields Farm – Big Beam – 23rd Feburary 2020 – 17 fished
Start to a new season today. With us all looking forward to it so much, and for many this is the first time out since last year we were setting off positive. Weather seemed to be holding during draw and setup so looked for a good day.
Then it started, winds that could blow a brollie half way up the lake or snap it. Rods that on first cast were snapping in half. Flasks falling into the water and pole sections blowing all over the place. It was a nightmare of a day.
With the first couple of hours under way, very wet and cold wind. A couple of men decided that beer and a warm dinner would be better than freezing on the bank and went home.
At the end, many wished they had gone home instead of waiting… but its all part of the fun 🙂
Golden peg was peg 4 drawn by Mark Walton and drawn in the match by Rod Hill. Unfortuanatly with Rod losing a couple late on he missed out on the beginners pot and only managed a 3rd place… Phew that was close said most.
1st – Steve Hough (£50)
2nd – Rick Golden (£25)
3rd – Rod Hill (£15)
Next match is 15th March at Old Hough, and hopefully the conditions will improve.
