30th October 2022 – Match 10 – Partridge – Spey Canal

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 10 – Partridge Lakes – Spey Canal – 30th October 2022 – 16 fished

Unfortunately, one of our worst matches of the year.  Not sure if this is down to the venue, the weather, too many on the lake. But it was a tough day all round, with hardly any fish showing up to play.  Most nets as you will see from the gallery were coming from small silvers and the odd bonus carp or F1.

Your winner (that being me 🙂 ), only managed a better weight after finishing over the top of […]

18th September 2022 – Match 9 – Moss Farm Lilys

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 8 – Moss Farm – Lilys – 18th September 2022 – 17 fished

After turning up late at the last match, yours truely made sure was there ontime and fresh.  Just intime to match the rain and weather.

Remi showing up in form again this match and helping keep the top of the table close between our 2 horse race.  Lovely fishery with plenty of bites through-out the day.  Unfortunatly, it seems alot of the big fish have been moved out of lilys, so this made for lower weights, and not alot of action […]

21st August 2022 – Match 8 – Brookside Snake Lake

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 8 – Brookside – Snake Lake – 21st August 2022 – 18 fished

Another match on a new lake for Midport.  These lakes are well stocked and have previously been reserved on Sundays for opens.  But the owner has graciously opened them up for club matches now, and with our venue at Holmston Hall having too few pegs for our 18 attendees it was perfect.

Sections split over the 2 lakes.  Can’t really say much about this match, as your’s truely was habouring the pleasures of the previous night, so did a “Joey” and […]

24th July 2022 – Match 7 – Issak Walton Canal Pool

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 7 – Issak Walton – Canal Pool – 24th July 2022 – 13 fished

A venue we have just visited, but this time on a lake we have not fished before.  A lovley canal style lake with well spaced pegs and plenty of small F1s and carp upto about 3lb.

Only myself venturing for the breaksfast after the rush and delays last time.  But I can tell you it was everyone else who missed out, a lovely breakfast was eaten by yours truely.

Scott seemed to have the best day out of everyone, catching shallow […]

10th July 2022 – Match 6 – Commonwood Tryfan

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 6 – Commonwood – Tryfan – 10th July 2022 – 15 fished

A venue that has been consistant for us in previous years, with weights upto about 40lb winning.

This outing was no different.  The banks still need a little gardening, the pegs are very good and stable though.  Some angry fish in there, with alot losing a few fish.  The air was blue over the top of Gary who managed to lose 8+ carp.

Unfortunately the cafe didn’t open until 9.30 which meant most of us had to make other arrangements, except for Martin […]

26th June 2022 – Match 5 – Issak Walton Bottom Pool

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 5 – Weston Pools – Stretton – 29th June 2022 – 20 fished

Last minute change of lake on this match. We had to switch from middle pool to bottom pool due to us having a great turn out of 20 anglers and middle pool being over worked with those numbers.

Terrible pegging demanded Simon and Mark walking around and re-pegging the lake to ensure space and fishable pegs.  After a brisk walk around and re-peg breakfast was on order.  Unfortunately it did take a long time for breakfast to arrive, and by the […]

12th June 2022 – Match 4 – Weston Pools Stretton

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 2 – Weston Pools – Stretton – 12th June 2022 – 14 fished (13 from league 1 guest)

This is one of our favourite venues, such a well maintained place with very helpful staff, well stocked onsite shop, good fishing and the most important part… A delicious well priced full english with thick bacon and juicy sausages.

Golden peg this week was Mark Walton, which hasn’t been won for 2 seasons, finally was won by a superb angler, catch on worm on the deck and consistantly putting fish in his net. A well deserved […]

29th May 2022 – Match 3 – Heronbrook Match Pool

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 2 – Heronbrook – Match Pool – 29th May 2022 – 20 fished

Once we got to site, we quickly discovered we had all thought we were fishing a different lake… lucky the lake and pegs are well numbered.  However, most anglers stuggled with the width of the pegs, stuggling to get side trays on the small metal, slippy boarding.

A huge benefit of being able to park behind your peg was a lovely bonus on this lake.  The fish were topping just not feeding today, with the winner catching mainly carp at 13.5m.

Golden […]

1st May 2022 – Match 2 – Cheshire Oaks

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 2 – Cheshire Oaks – 1st May 2022 – 18 fished

With a few pre-match reports that this venue had a fish issue (something about alge in the water) we were hopeful of catching anything, so when we started to see a couple of fish early doors, things looked up.

Unfortunately, it seems the fish were in between pegs 21/22 and then rest evenly split.  Weather held out for us, not as warm as previous days but still a pleasent day.  Well done to Rick who stormed the match using the fishery pellets… almost […]

3rd April 2022 – Match 1 – Old Hough – Lower Benbo

Pegs, Weights and Points

Match 1 – Old Hough – Lower – 3rd April 2022 – 21 fished

What a fantastic start to a new season, with 3 new members and a turn out of every member (bar 1) we filled the lake (bar 3 pegs).  The sun was shining for the most part, there was a very strong wind that did hinder some, this also carried a cold snap,  but we can’t have everything in April.

Was a great first match with fish coming out, but they are still very sleepy.  Hopefully good things to come from the […]
